Here are the notes for the last meeting. Remember that they want to open this up to all students, so don’t worry if everyone seems to have a title now they do not want that. I thought anyone interested in going might want to see who all from the administration was there and what they talked about.

VSG Copyright Bill

4 01 2008

Looks like VSG is getting a little mad that vanderbilt is rolling over and letting the RIAA kick us…here is a choice excerpt of a bill they recently passed to admin

BE IT RESOLVED THAT The Vanderbilt Student Government urges the Administration to lobby legislative bodies vigorously to relieve college and universities of the onerous burden of being a policing agency on behalf of copyright owners

full bill included below. (dammit, this, for people that are confused, means VSG is politely asking vanderbilt admin to stop letting the riaa ask them for any of our private info and to leave us the hell alone. they suggest the riaa should screw off stop asking vandy to do their dirty work for them in trying to track students down. )

E-Week Info on Cal

4 01 2008

Guys,
Just got the specific E-Week Schedule. Engineering week is Feb. 18-23, and all the information is now on our calendar. We are doing the fastest geek Competition on Thursday (prelims) and friday (finals). First place is confirmed to get a dell laptop (i dont know the model yet, but i will soon) and dell will likely provide a second place of a pocket computer. I am looking into getting more prizes paid for by IEEE/ACM, so please check the forum on that (its in the things ieee/acm should do, i believe) and post there if there is a specific prize you think would be cool.

Hamy

ps. more info on what fastest geek is in a bit when i have more time
